Brian Boitano and Mom

March, 2013. This piece, about sharing the excitement of Brian Boitano’s Olympic gold medal with my mother, appeared in the Jack Straw Production storytelling installation.

“He stepped onto the ice. Napoleon’s soldier in a blue and gold uniform. Sweeping glide, crisp jumps, punctuated arms. He aced his first triple loop. He circled the arena in a controlled spread eagle, exhilarating the crowd. Mom gasped. I think this is your boyfriend’s night.”
